Me & Mine October

Ok so we are a day late with our family snap..
But seeing as its - technically- only a few hours since last month,
I'm counting it as our October Family picture

So. No special poses (really) or seasonal props this months...
Just us three
on a very rainy, cold Autumn afternoon
in our messy but cosy, warm home.

This Month
We have been
playing in leaves and finding conkers
baking bread and Hobbit cakes
celebrating Uncle Joey's Birthday
going to the Christmas adventure
watching a lot of Barney and Elmo
You have been saying lots of new words...
...and climbing and walking everywhere in your new shoes

{Me and Mine} September

Our Pretty Amazing Family
September 2013

Having some cuddles before Dad left for his first trip away with work
You wanted to race about so we watched your favourite music video "Hey Ho"..
You still love it.

We got there in the end.
(Just slightly looking like a statue family)

{This Month}
We've all had a cold :(
been adventuring to a castle,
looked in the woods for monsters and gruffalo's,
played in a big ball pool,
had a long sleepover at Grandma's,
got used to a new job,
got out our warmies for the colder days...
and spent a lot of sunny days together.

{The Ordinary Moments}

This week we had a rare day when your other Auntie and Uncle were off work, so we all went for a little walk and lunch by the river..You had a lovely time watching your Uncle skim stones and then we headed off to see the ducks.
Here you both are watching the ducks together..
Nanny is your bigger Auntie, and you don't get to see her as often as your littler Auntie but you love it when you do. She is the more serious one. You took a while to work her out but now you seem to trust her...When she talks to you, you listen intently and try to tell her things.
She is the one that tells you stories, the one who always has something interesting in her bag, the one who always scoops you up and gives your face a wipe, the one who loves to buy you and your little uncle presents. She is the adventurous one, the one who always tells mum not to worry, but still worries about you..

My cuddly little fox and my beautiful, strong Nanny.

An ordinary moment in our week - that I don't want to forget.

The Ordinary Moments

When we found out that you would be arriving no one, apart from us obviously, was more excited than your Auntie, my little sister.
She loves your Uncle, my little brother, so much and has always been brilliant with children, and she loves babies.
She has looked after both of us from the very beginning; cooking, caring and making us feel safe and cosy.
She helped us with getting everything ready for you and picking out lovely things for your arrival.
When you were born I found out later that she couldn't wait to hold you and was desperate all day to get her first cuddle!

At the moment she spends a lot of time with you, and you love to see her.
You know her as the playful one, the one who takes you up and down the garden, the one who will always make you laugh when you cry and the one who sneaks you bits of chocolate and sweeties when no-ones not looking...!
You can get away with anything when she's around.
You are so energetic these days and she spends a lot of time chasing you up and down while I have five minutes chatting to grandma or having a cuppa, and we love her for it.

You love reading books, and last Sunday you both sat together reading this book about a little red hat in the snow.
You were so content sitting there with your cuddly Auntie, listening to her read.
I was in the middle of putting the kettle on but I had to catch it as it was so wonderful to see.
My beautiful boy, and his special Auntie, spending a cosy moment together.

A simple moment I don't want to forget.

{Summer Adventure at Stockeld Park}

On Friday we decided to have our last day out before September started and Joe started his new job...
so we packed up and headed to Stockeld Park Summer Adventure.

We took the little lovely to the Christmas Adventure last year but he was only a few months old and spent most of the day asleep in the sling so we were looking forward to him being able to see everything this time.

The park is set in a beautiful wood and has such a magical feel when you first get on to the enchanted walk..

Tibs loved the talking tree..
..and Rapunzel in her castle..

There is an amazing sandy play area with a big ark and pirate ship..

and a village of toadstools...

Making the washing machine light up made him giggle!

 My Favourite part though...

Was the giant teapot!

There were even Yorkshire "tea-bags" to slide down on!

After tea we popped over to Grandma's house..

Then on to the Old woman in a shoe..

(they were both out.)

After all that adventuring we headed off in search of ice-cream...

And found tractors and trucks too!...

Then time for just a quick slide...
(or five.)

We had such a lovely day at the Summer adventure, I'm really glad we paid a visit before the end of the summer.
The play areas were beautiful and as well as the adventure walk there was a roller-skate arena, go-karting, electric scooters, bouncy castles and and ice cream parlour.
The whole walk felt magical; there are so many little touches for children to find like tiny doors, wooden sculptures and funny sounds.
There really is so much to see.

We'll definitely be planning a trip to the Christmas adventure...!

{The Ordinary Moments}

Last week we said goodbye to our lovely friend as he heads off to a very exciting new job nearly 900 milles away...
however he we be working as a designer for a very famous toy company so we don't mind letting him go for a little while.

Uncle Mat is Daddy's best friend and another of your awesome uncle's.
Last week we had some food together and Uncle Mat brought a Nerf gun to play with.
You absolutely loved it and laughed your head off at the darts flying about the room.

I know a lot of people say that children are forced into gender stereotypes by their parents and peers but I can honestly say You have been into boy type things since you were old enough to sit up.
You love cars, tractors, trains, footballs and, more recently, big guns that fire foam darts.
Don't get me wrong, I am very happy for you to be into whatever interests you have, and should you one day want to do ballet or wear pink socks I'll be supporting you..
You just love playing with other boys and kicking footballs at the moment.

It was such a special moment as it will be a long time before we see Uncle Mat again and you had such a laugh playing together.

A simple moment but one I don't want to forget..

Good Luck Uncle Mat!

Me&Mine August 2013

This month I really have left it to the last minute to get our August family snap...

We finally managed to assemble ourselves this evening just before giving the little lovely his bath and getting ready for bed.
This is our messy bedroom - a lot like the rest of our life...!

The end of August today also ends a difficult week for us..we have been busy doing lots of things, rushing about and getting a little bit stressed with each other.
It has been very warm and humid, and Tibs has been teething and getting up very early for some reason.
By the time we got round to taking this picture we were feeling tired, cross and grumpy.
(not the best time to have a family shot I thought!)

But just getting to sit down together for five minutes
to be a bit silly, to try and balance the camera and laugh at the wonky pictures;
it broke all of that daft stress down.
We were just us again.
And having those five silly minutes together made us all feel better.

So even though this is a very badly taken picture, it is now one of my favourites...

Our little family.

{This month}

Tibs has been...
 walking everywhere
reading about "Brum" cars
watching "up" and loving the balloons
doing very well at feeding himself
giving lots of "big loves"
playing on big wooden tractors
talking to trees
barking at every dog he sees

We have been enjoying lots of sunshine before the Summer ends..
Daddy has got a new job (!) and is addicted to "Dowton Abbey"
Mama has been taking lots of pictures and loving every day with her little man..

{The Out-Takes...}

The end of Summer...

I can't believe that tomorrow will be the first of September...
Although we (hopefully) have a few more sunny days to look forward to,
we've come to the end of the summer..

This has been your first "proper" Summer.
We have had such an amazing time with you.
And had so many adventures...

You have been to lots of new places and learnt so many things.
It has been a Summer of very hot days and you have loved paddling in the pool and playing in the sunshine.
You have caught the sun and spend lazy days sleeping in after all the running around..
We went on our first holiday together where you went around on your little trike and learned how to make all the sounds the animals make.
You have played at Grandmas with your Aunties and Uncles and had lots of raspberries from Grandma's allotment.
We have been on your first bike ride and had lots of ice-cream.
We celebrated your first birthday.
You have gone from crawling to standing to walking to running.
We have scooted home together
You have seen big trains, lots of fish, castles and talking trees...

We have had an amazing summer adventure with you.
Watching you grow and chasing you everywhere...
You make everything so exciting, so fun and so new.
Everything you do makes us smile..

Goodbye Summer 2013...

{The Ordinary Moments...}

This was taken last week while we were in the garden together...
It's my two boys looking at a big frog we found in the allotment.
Tibs was not really sure what to make of it and even resisted trying to squeeze it!
He loves looking at things with his daddy and his daddy loves showing him new things.

It really is the ordinary, everyday moments together that make life for us.
The simple things we do together.
They aren't always exciting but...I love them all.

Me&Mine July 2013

Our First Family Holiday...

One Year Old.

Our Beautiful little man is One.

I can't believe how fast this year has gone or how quickly you have grown into a little boy...
We have had you in our lives for a whole 365 days but it really does feel like forever.

You are so clever, so funny and so beautiful.

We took you away for your birthday to stay in Grandma's caravan.
We wanted some time to just be with you and play with you and enjoy the special day with you.
We stayed near the river and you loved paddling your toes in the water...

You shouted at the lambs and listened intently when the ducks quacked at you...
You played on the grass - You loved the open spaces!- and picked daisies and skimmed stones across the water with dada (or tried to at least!)...

We gave you lollies to cool you down as it was so hot!

We bought you a Trike and you went all over the site in it...

When it got to the time you were born ( 5.22am) we wanted to take a picture of you with your Daddy..
But you were so sleepy!
We did get one eventually but then you were awake and ready to play!

We took you out when Grandma came, to a little village where there was a big old car boot sale.
Daddy found a little bike for you and your Auntie bought it!
Your Daddy is going to make it shiny and fix it for you for when you can ride a big boys bike..

When we came home on the Sunday we got to see your Aunties and Uncles who wanted to celebrate too and after a lovely meal we all sang Happy Birthday and had your cake...

You loved birthday cake.

But you still had to see your other Grandma and Great Grandma and all your other Aunties and Uncles...! (to be continued)

Mama with a camera!!

The day after my first Nanny post my lovely Sister came over for coffee and brought me the most amazing gift...

My first real camera!
It is one of the best presents I've ever been given as it means I can capture so many precious moments  with mr Tibs and learn how to take proper pictures!
It makes me feel very serious; like a real grown up mama.

I'm so grateful as Its not something I would have been able to get on my own and I love that she has picked it out for me...
Thank you Nanny.

To My Little Lovely...

Our lives changed from the moment we found out that you were coming into our world.

We always knew that we wanted to be a Mummy and Daddy one day but never realised the affect that you would have on our lives.
I had the joy of giving you a cosy little space to grow in for the first nine months of your life and although they turned out to be some of the hardest, every day I felt you fluttering and wiggling and hiccuping, it made me so happy to be part of every stage of your getting ready to enter this world.
The day you were born was the most amazing day for me and your Dad. We had no idea what to expect and seeing you for the first time shocked us! But as soon as we held you, we felt complete.
It is so strange suddenly feeling like you have found something you had no idea was missing from your life...
Every day since then you have made us smile, laugh and feel like the most blessed two people in the world.
Every day your Daddy looks at you and says to me "isn't he beautiful?".
Every day you do funny and amazing things that I just want to shout to anyone who is within earshot and say "Quick! He's doing something new!".
I want to share all of these things with you but I'll never be able to tell you how much joy you have brought us, how much we love you, and how I can't wait to see what God has planned for you...

I love you so much my little lovely.
