A Good Biscuit

There's nothing we love more than a good biscuit in this house (We are Yorkshire though)
So at Christmas when my mum and sister put together a lovely Christmas Hamper for us they were kind enough to choose us some very nice biscuits from Cartwright & Butler.
I wouldn't usually write a wrote post on a tin of biscuits but they really were yummy
and how cute are the tins?! I love pastel colours and the etched teaspoon and teacup designs.

We may have eaten both tins over several cups of tea -
but to be fair they were lovely.
Very buttery and perfect with a cup of Yorkshire tea.
I preferred the chocolate chunk but then again I need the extra chocolate being a mama to be (again).
I think these are perfect for a special tea time rather than every day but if you really want to then I can't see why not!

Give them a try if you fancy a special tea time treat

NB. post not in collaboration with Cartwright & Black - Simply informing others about good biscuits.

Spring Baby Picks

Now that we're heading into spring after a pretty mild winter it seems like a good time to start browsing the baby sections!
Having another boy means we don't have a huge amount to buy and have most of the standard baby clothes like vests and baby-grows as well as things like chairs and toys but it does mean we can pick out some special pieces and nice little outfits- (yay)

We had a little wander around town this week and there is some lovely things for boys at the moment not to mention all the on-line shops creating some super cute boy things
I'm Planning the boys joint bedroom at the moment and Joe is going to give it a fresh coat of paint in the next few weeks (hopefully!) but until then I'm browsing for some new little treats!
These are a few lovely shops with some of my favourite bits for baby.

Cloud Silicone Placemat (White)

I came across this little shop on Instagram a few weeks ago - they make gorgeous table ware for little people as well as some lovely burp cloths and dummy clips.
Even better their products are environmentally friendly and made in Yorkshire-perfect.
I love these cute wooden baby plates and cutlery. I think the boys would love these!

Faye & Lou

I bought some of these amazing rainbow muslins for our first little guy and I just loved them.
They are such brilliant quality and a really good size not to mention the vibrant colours which surprisingly can be washed again and again without fading. They're so handy to keep in the changing bag for everything and anything. Sadly I have lost most of them now so will definitely need to restock!

I have been seriously crushing on the gorgeous clothes in this little store since before I was pregnant- I love the bright and colourful designs and that their adorable leggings go up to age 3-4.

Robot Cotton Knit Pyjamas
There are literally so many gorgeous things in this shop!
I love their range of Powell craft Pyjamas  which are made with beautiful vintage designs and soft cotton. I can't wait for my two boys to have matching clothes and these will be first on the list!

Gap

Having worked at Gap Kids I may be slightly biased but I really do love their children's clothes.
They are always such great quality and I can vouch for the fact that they wear and wash well having already had a proper trial run with our first little one. His first outfit was a soft cotton white gap vest and babygro from their first favourites collection.
I love this Grey and rainbow collection!

Totsie & Bo

How gorgeous are these baby moccs by Totsie & Bo?!

That's it for my Saturday morning browsings-
Hope you're all having a good one!

National Trust Country Kitchen

We live quite close to our local Homebase so I'm often wandering in there to look at their new home wares. A few weeks ago I spotted the gorgeous new National Trust Country Kitchen range and immediately loved it; So just before Christmas I decided to treat myself to a few pieces from the new range along with this super cute metal star which we kept out over Christmas - it is heading to the boys room next!
Not only is it a lovely range but is very reasonably priced as well.
I love the simple clean designs and how the floral print is inspired by the beautiful floral wallpaper at Oxburgh Hall in Norfolk, a National Trust property.
Its wonderful to think there's a story behind each piece.
My mum popped in for tea so I decided to use my new set- and open the lovely biscuits she bought us for christmas!

I decided on the teapot and two mugs but saw the cute little storage tins and realised I needed those as well! They're perfect for tea, coffee and sugar or biscuits.
The Teapot is just the right size for afternoon tea at home.

I will no doubt be adding to my collection soon - I have my eye on the matching milk jugs and enamel ware...!

The Country Kitchen range is produced by Creative Tops; it is still available at Homebase and via the website.
You can also find your nearest stockists through the Creative Tops website which has even more stunning home wares

NB This post was not endorsed in any way by Creative tops, National Trust or Homebase - I just love pretty teapots and mugs.

The Great Denby Cake Off 2015

Way back in August while doing #bakeofflovelies the opportunity came up to enter the annual Great Denby Cake off.
As a huge fan of the Denby range (and of cake of course) I had to enter this lovely competition.
Although not cake I decided to enter my Salted Caramel and cardamom biscuits which went down a treat with afternoon tea.
I never expected to be in with a chance amongst so many brilliant bakers out there so when I got an email from Denby in November to say I had come in second place I was thrilled!

It was such a lovely surprise and really picked me up after having a rough couple of months.

I have always loved Denby ware; my mum was a collector so it has always been something which reminded me of tea times at home. I love its classical designs and earthy colours which seem to look right at home anywhere.
 having said that I didn't realise that Denby also do a beautiful selection of metal bake-ware;
So when a huge box arrived with my competition prize in I couldn't wait to get acquainted with the collection and I really wasn't disappointed.

The ultimate baking set I received is stunning-
each piece came in a beautiful rose gold colour which I just love.
The set included a madeline tray, cupcake tray, loaf tin, roasting tray and fluted cake tray.

Although I bake a lot I have never used great quality tins so these are such a treat to have;
they are exactly what you would expect from Denby in terms of design and standard.
They are heavier and thicker than normal tins and have these great silicone handles which is extremely helpful if you're prone to oven burns from hot cake tins..!

The non stick coating is great especially for baking intricate cakes like madelines- and makes for very easy cleaning which is always a bonus.

This has turned into more of a review but I just love my new cake tins and I'm so grateful to Denby for the opportunity to enter and the lovely judges for picking my recipe.

I'd also like to say a big belated congratulations to Hannah for winning a very well deserved first place with her amazing chocolate cake and to Rebecca who came third with her adorable courgette and sunflower bee cakes

If you have a minute head over to Denby and have a look through their gorgeous cake tins-
I can't wait to get baking in mine!

Bumps, Bake Off & Back to Blogging

Hello again!

I've had a rather long break from blogging...

In September we found out the exciting news that we were expecting baby number two and although the first few weeks seemed to sail by after a while the old morning sickness and general fatigue settled in. I was so disappointed to have to stop doing bake off lovelies but typically (!) the thought and sight of cake seemed to make me feel worse! Although no where near as bad as my first little one, I was kept off my feet with continual nausea until the end of November and although I have my bad days generally this time around is proving to be a lot easier; or as easy as it can be with another small person to chase after all day!

I'm pleased to be feeling a lot more energetic now I'm well into the second (almost third) trimester and I literally can't wait to meet the newest member of our little gang. We found out just before Christmas that we will be having a sweet baby boy and although I'm going to be outnumbered I can't wait to see our boys together and the bond they'll share.

We've had a long break over Christmas and coming into the new year and I'm eager now to get everything ready for our new arrival (especially the boys room!) and spend more time on my little blog...

I'm hoping to do some more mum style posts soon; despite being absent for a while some wonderful blogging opportunities have come my way and I'm excited to share with you some new collaborations in the coming months.

Hope you'll stick around
x
